Whirling up a drink (Haley x OPEN)

Alina looked up at Haley, her lightless eyes expressionless.
"So there's Starbucks in this place..." she muttered. "I guess I'm not in hell, after all."
Reaching into her backpack, she took out a baby blue flyer. "Uh, the therapist person at the big place who told me to get a job told me to hang up these flyers for some ball in the ballroom friday night. Mind if I..uh...hang 'em up?"
Jackson woofed in delight, rubbing himself against Haleys leg lovingly. "Arooo? Awoof! Rau rau rau RAUUUUUUU!" Which roughly translates as, "A ball? Ooh! I can ask out that good looking golden retriever living next door."
David smiled.

Tom straightened up a little, looking at Alyson. "A ball, huh? Mind if I be your knight in shining armour that night-"
"NEVER." Alyson said, very angry.

Adira straightened up almost instantly, her mouth agape for a few seconds as she smoothed out her hair. She watched as the argument spiked and then calmed- until the dog was happy again, babbling on about who knows what. She blinked, not exactly knowing what to say or do next- until she realized Steve wasn't on her shoulder.

"What did you DO?" she angrily accused the group, to no one in particular. "Where did Steve go? Did your dog eat it.. to 'protect' me?" she accused David. She sighed unhappily. "Anyone who looked longer than two seconds would realize that he was sleeping on my shoulders, she growled softly. She then turned and stalked away, scanning the walls for her beloved snake. Knowing Steve, he would probably be hiding in the rafters somewhere.

Steve, however, wasn't nearly as traumatized as Adira thought he was. He was confused, sure, but happy that he was finally able to be freely in Starbucks. hissing happily to himself, he wound through the table and chair legs, careful not to touch any of the humans. They would probably freak out.

Lucy had covered her eyes with her fingers, and now peeked through them, "Is the snake gone now," she asked, voice shaking.

ic:// "A ball?!" Haley exclaimed. "There's a ball" She would have to get a dress, a manicure, a... She looked down suddenly. "Is everyone invited? Can we bring dates?" She blushed, and quickly looked down, her hand twirling a piece of hair around her finger. She realized Alina was still waiting for a response. "Go ahead, there's a corkboard over there." She watched Alina, wanting to read the flier herself.

Liam noticed the snake slithering around, and hopped down from the roof. He crept stealthily under the table, and followed it around. It had a very shiny tail, he observed. All the better to... Pounce! He leaped on Steve's tail, and bit it.

Alina shrugged. "I don't know why this dumb place has balls." she sighed. "We're DEAD." Reluctantly, she posted the baby blue flyer on the corkboard.

David looked at Adira.
"I'm really sorry he...did that." he said, looking back at Jackson for a second, who was wagging his tail idiotically. "He thought you were in danger. I'll help you find Scott."

Tom smiled at Adira, holding out his hand for her.
"I'm Tom Christiansen." he said, flashing a dazzling smile. "I'll help you find Steve."

ooc:// "Are you from Tennessee because you're the only ten I see." *cracks up* this is what happens when my dad watches big brother...

"STTEEEEVE!" Liam called, removing his teeth from Steve's tail. "STEVE STEVE STEVE WHERE ARE YOU?!" He tapped on Steve's tail. "Hey, snake-thing, do you know where Steve is?" He decided that the name Steve sounded like a steam engine. He cackled, and came out from the tail. "Toot toot!" he called. "Toot toot, chugga chugga, toooooot!" He hopped around the room, acting like a bouncing train- since when do trains bounce?

Haley gasped. "Oh my goodness!" she gasped. "Cool! No problem whatsoever!" She looked at David suddenly with new eyes. The guy was cute... She tried to think of a way to casually ask if he had a girlfriend.

David looked at Haley smiling.
I wonder if she has a boyfriend...Hah. Good thing Mom always made me take ballroom dance class, after all.
Jackson woofed, and nuzzled his head against Haleys leg, his puppy dog eyes just pleading for him to be petted.

"MOOOOO."
Kurt the Cow decided he was bored, and made his way into Starbucks. He saw a potted plant, and began eating it.

Lucy shrieked at the sigh of a cow - her least favourite animal in the world. She had had a traumatic experience with a cow when she was younger, who had mistaken her green mohair dress as a bush and began eating it whilst she was <i>still wearing it</i>!

As soon as Alina posted the bulletin, she sighed.
"Well, I'm off to the OD's, Tom." she said to her brother. He was searching for Steve, and couldn't hear her. Alina looked down at her feet, walking out of Starbucks.
David looked at Haley, his eyes sympathetic. "Poor kid. I remember when I first got up here..."
Jackson continued to nuzzle at Haleys leg, oblivious to the rest of the world.

Kurt looked at Lucy, eyeing her outfit, which looked like a yummy treat.
"MOOOOOOOO."
He began pulling at Lucy's sleeve, chewing. He soon abandoned it, seeing an open drink on the counter.
"MOOO?" He bellowed with intrest, wondering what the cloud-looking-thing could be. He tipped it over with his horn, spilling it onto the rug. "MOOOO!!!" he exclaimed in discovery. It was edible!

ooc:// *cracks up* Oh goodness...
ic:// Liam abandoned Steve for a moment as he saw David and Haley casting each other awkward glances. "Oh, you idiots! Go to the ball together!" he shouted at the top of his voice. "Together together together!!!" He returned to chewing on Steve's tail, but then decided it was a little tough, and abandoned it. "Peh!" he shouted. "This tastes discussing!"

Haley glanced at Liam again. "What's he saying?" she asked. Deciding to drop a hint, she continued, "Does he dance too?" She looked down, and then suddenly jumped up. "I'm gonna get myself a drink."

David nudged Liam. "Shut it, Liamliamliam."
He grinned a little, and said, "He said we should go together."
Jackson followed after Haley, and David called to her, "I think Jackson is starting to like you more than me." Jackson woofed, and nuzzled Haleys leg.

[Lia]

Liam flicked David with his long stripey tail. "No, you shut down, David David David!!!" He realized that David had called him Liamliamliam, and tilted his head, his tail freezing midair. Was that an insult?

Haley felt a rush of blood to her cheeks, and looked down. "Are you ask--" Her voice came out whispery, and she cleared her throat. "Are you asking me to go with you?" she asked, looking at David straight in the eyes.

David took a while to process what Haley was saying, but then when he realized, he began blushing as red as a tomato.
"Uh...yes...I mean, no...I mean, Liam said we should....so we could...if you want...I guess."
He crammed his hands in his pockets as far as they could go. Jackson howled in laughter.

Haley: ... *whacks Lia*
Lia: Hey! I made you, I can take back your love for him!
Haley: ... *whacks Lia again*
Lia: *grumbles* *reads the post* *cracks up*

ic:// Liam's attention turned from David to Jackson. He looked at the dog, who was howling like a wolf. "Huh," he commented. His attention turned back to David, and he started jittering up and down while cackling.

Also blushing, Haley cracked a smile at the animals. "They're crazy," she muttered. Her brown eyes drilled into him. "Are you asking me out or not?" She didn't want to go to a dance with him just because his lemur thought he should. She giggled at the thought. "I never knew lemurs were bossy."

David grinned like a little boy caught in trouble.
"Well, I guess Liam's a mind reader, or something...well, if you don't want to, it's perfectly fine, of course...uh...." He stared down at his shoes, then managed to make eye contact with Haley. "So, I guess I'm asking you out."
