Haley sat on the counter at Starbucks, swirling a stick around in her hot chocolate. The old manager of the shop, who had retired only two weeks ago at the age of 5-58, would have growled at her for being seen in such an unsanitary position, but she didn't care. Haley willed someone to come in, so she could talk... Her mouth ached, from lack of movement. She slowly slid off the counter, nearly crashing into the other bench and knocking over a bottle of caramel sauce, and moved to the radio. She switched it on to the local radio station, and a song she recognized played. She started singing along to the familiar song, still waiting.

Alyson McHenry sat at the other end of the bar, wearing a dark colored hoodie with the hood just pulled over her face. She, as many of her friends called her when she was living, was "goth", with her obsession of covering herself in black eyeliner and the refusal of all colors except...black. Suddenly, she looked up from the Diet Coke that she ordered - she didn't drink coffee. She never did. That song...on the radio... "That's my song, you know." she said, turning on the spinning chair at the bar, facing Haley. "That was my band."

Haley immediately straightened up. The strand of honey brown hair that she had been twirling around her finger dropped. Had that girl talked to her? Haley's day was immediately happier; she needed social interaction like some people needed the sun. "Really?" she exclaimed. "That's awesome! I love this song!" Her every statement was punctuated with exclamation points. Although she loved music, she couldn't recognize every song that was played. "What was the band called? Are you still playing in Elsewhere?!" Her heels were literally bobbing with excitement; she was meeting a real celebrity!

Alyson gripped her Diet Coke again, feeling awkward. "Uh...yeah." she muttered, always feeling a little awkward around people. "We were more of a one-hit wonder, I guess...thats what the critics called us, but we had a few albums, we even got to go with Warped Tour one year. Soundtrack to Insanity...you probably haven't heard of us." She took another sip. "Elsewhere...so that's what you guys call this place. I'm a newbie, I guess..." She extended her somewhat tan hand to shake hers, smiling. "I'm Alyson."

ooc:// WOAH, that thing was TODAY!!! So much for thinking about going to it... xD
ic:// Haley tilted her head slightly, racking her brain. "I think a friend of mine mentioned it..." she said. "It sounded cool, but my parents were overprotective and wouldn't let me go." Her smile lessened as she thought of her so called 'overprotective' parents. "Do you have any CD's here? I'd love to listen to one!" She smiled at Alyson. "How new is a newbie? I've only been here a year myself." Haley shook Alyson's hand. "I'm Haley!" Her smile grew even more.

((joins randomly)) Lucy bounced into the cafe ((or whatever starbucks is)), her bob...well, bobbing. Over-enthusiasticly, she leapt onto a bar stool, making it spin around from the momentum. Calming down a little, she surveyed the cafe. It seemed quite quiet today - only some random...oh, what did you call them? Depress-o? Saddo? Hmmm... And, of course, the owner. Lucy leaned forwards, drumming her fuchia finger nails on the bar. She paused to admire her fingernails - hardly a flaw! Every one was uniformly long and neatly rounded after several years of hard work. The varnish was still slightly wet, so she took her hands off the bar and sat on them, so she wouldn't get pink on any...oh, darn! She was wearing black jeans and sitting on fuchia nail polish. She did a head-desk, literally.

"Excuse me a moment," Haley ordered Alyson. She competed for the most-enthusiastic prize with Lucy as she spun around in a circle and landed in an attempt at the splits at the ground. "Darn," she moaned, her ponytail bouncing. "Hiya!" she shrieked, rising to her feet in front of Lucy. "What can I get you?" Her big smile over took her whole face.

Lucy paused - she hadn't actually thought this far yet, she'd just decided to go out and do something interesting. So far she had ruined her jeans, which was more annoying than interesting, so she had to compensate by ordering something interesting from the drinks menu. Leaning forwards, she squinted at it, but all the fancy and pretentious Italian names blurred together. "Uh...I'll have a...brrr...glll...laa...cuuu..." She broke off, stroking her chin and leaving a small line of fuchia nail varnish. "What would you reccomend?" she asked eventually, giving a little bounce to show how pleased she was with herself to think of such a good question.

ooc : I'm going July 16th ^^
ic : Alyson shrugged. "Uh...okay...I guess..." She noticed an over entusiastic girl next to Haley, and the new stain of purple nail polish on the ivory rug. She rolled her eyes; they reminded her so much of her own little sister, Deanna Joan, or DJ. Tears brimmed to her eyes thinking of DJ. I should be with her now... Her sadness turned to rage, looking at the Starbucks. What kind of sick place was this? She wanted OUT! She turned back to her Diet Coke, noticing it was tasting salty from the tears that fell in the shimmering plastic bottle.

Surveying the doorway in hopes of more customers, Haley bounced back over to Alyson. "So how long have you been... dead... for?" she asked, The topic was very touchy to Haley herself, but she couldn't help her curiosity. She was a gossip; she needed to know every single detail about everything.

Alyson looked up at Haley. "What...me?" she said, rather monotoned. "I...uh...about a month and a half. So, not too long, I guess..."

Lucy leaned forwards - she was never very tactful, in life or now in death, and didn't find her own death an uncomfortable subject. She thus believe that this applied to ALL deaths. "Really?" she asked, intruiged, "how did you die? Was it an exciting death? I know a joke about that...let me remember it..." She thought for a moment, "God decided that...no, wait, there was a guy in a fridge...oh, I've forgotten it. How did you die, again, I've forgotten already!" She didn't realise that Haley hadn't replied, as Lucy hadn't given her a second to speak in.

ooc:// *cracks up* I'm gonna make this interesting... Usually Haley never lets anyone get a word in edgewise! Oh wait. Haley doesn't like her death. Oh well XP ic:// Staring at Lucy with wide eyes, Haley zoned out. She thought back to her death, and shuddered, quickly returning to the present. "How did you die?" she asked Lucy. "And you." She looked over at Alyson. "How would a big rock star like you die?" She was talking slightly over Lucy's fridge joke, and realized this. "Oh, a ha ha ha, that joke was so funny!" she squealed, flipping her hair over her shoulder and laughing almost realistically.

Alyson looked at the two girls. "Uh...how did I die???" she began, trying to recollect. "Uh...me and my band were on our way to the recording studio, and our driver was under the influence," She used finger quotes for the word. "And, well, we crashed into another car. I died...I dunno 'bout the others..." She looked back down at her Diet Coke, feeling awkward

Lucy nodded, "out with a bang, that's the style!" she said, going for a high five but giving up halfway. "I was swimming with dolphins, you know, the thing to do before you die, and then I died! Isn't that just typical, I mean, it wasn't funny at the time, but I laugh about it now!" She giggled. "Yeah, anyway, a shark came along and I sort of cut my foot open." She glanced at her audience, "I like sharks," she added as an afterthought.
