I don't care how long it takes your computer, you must listen to that while reading this.
It's an excerpt. It doesn't stand alone well. I don't care. I haven't edited it. I don't care.
I just need to share this, in its sadness.
--Darren’s memory
“Eligh’s going to kill me no matter what, and you know it.”
“Yes, Lana, but… If I go, he’s sure to see reason…” She puts a finger on my lips, mesmerizing me.
“Shh.” She kisses me, but I know that it’s only to stop me from following her, so I pull away.
“Please, Lana. I don’t care if he finds our house. Just one more day.”
“You must remember Rosie,” she says, her eyes betraying her steady voice. The deep brown is full of anguish, and her pupils are like black holes.
“I’ll never forget you. Lany, I love you.”
“I know, Darren. But you must let go of me. You can’t hold onto me forever, you have to let me move on. You may always love me, but there is room in your heart for you to love many more than me. ‘The time always comes to say good bye. ’” She quotes the Cure at me, my brain thinks, aside from the situation.
“But…” I start.
She presses her finger to my lips, and whispers…
“Please remember me,
But not with tears...
Remember I was always true
Remember that I always tried
Remember I loved only you
Remember me and smile...
For it's better to forget
Than to remember me
And cry. ”
She sighs. Gives me one last glance. I memorize her, her short dark hair, her beautiful dark skin, the way her forehead wrinkles when she is worrying.
Her oak green wings flap, and she rises away from me, skimming away from the sea shore. She must know I am following her. I follow her all the way to the remote island in the Atlantic Ocean that we had come to know very well.
Tears drop from my eyes, and I stifle my sobs, as I know what will happen.
I see the whole thing, only a few miles behind. Eligh is waiting for her. He rises to the air, smirking smugly. She stops, and waits.
“Farewell, princess.” Eligh smiles, and blasts her.
Her short and final scream will haunt me for the rest of my life.
