Renee Swan never left her husband, Charlie Swan, and they have been happily married for over seventeen years. Bella Swan their only daughter goes to Forks High School, with her best friend Jacob Black. They've been absolutely inseparable since birth. Jacob is a La Push resident, but he absolutely refused to go to any other school than the one with Bella. She was delighted that she'd start high school with her best friend at her side.

During Bella's junior year a group of new students joined Forks. The Cullen children. Bella doesn't know much about them, only what she has heard from some of her friends. Summer is over and school is starting again, she's both anxious to start the new year, and meet these mysterious teens. The first she meets is Edward Cullen; he's a beautiful, dark, and brooding young man that she can't seem to get out of her mind. Jacob, not sure what to do about his best friend's new obsession, worries that she might decide she likes this boy much more than she does him.

Jacob Black isn't sure what to make of these Cullen children, but he doesn't have much time to worry about them. Lately his friends had begun to disappear for days, and days at a time. And they all seemed to resurface as members of Sam Uley's gang. He soon begins to worry, what is the man doing to his friends? He worries that he's next, and he's not wrong. One day, not weeks after the Cullen's arrival his body begins to change and in ways that he never thought possible.

Edward Cullen, and his family move to Forks, Washington, ready to start a new. They are looking for a fresh start in a new small town. Edward is happy that his family seems to be so excited, but he can't bring himself to care really. He's a vampire of over one hundred years old, and has lived a life filled with pain, loneliness, and fear. He hasn't ever felt love for another person. His first day at school seems to change it all. One glance in her direction, and one small whiff of her scent turns his entire world upside down.
